found a new home!
Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.
I am already neutered, housetrained, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs.
We met Hobbs as we do many of our dogs, at Memphis Animal Services (the city pound.). Hobbs had been there for almost two weeks, which in sheltering, is forever. Most dogs are given their mandated 72 hour hold time, then they are placed on the euthanasia list. Hobbs was different, the shelter employees saw in him something that no one else had seen, so they gave him one last day, a last ditch effort to get this pup adopted and so Hobbs was made "Dog of the Day". He was placed in a pen up front and was the greeter for the day.
You may wonder why he was overlooked, how could no one else see what the employees saw? It happens all the time, dogs get overlooked. At 38 lbs, he's not a small dog, but not big. He didn't demand attention, quite the opposite, Hobbs had been sitting, quietly and patiently waiting for someone to pick him. Some dogs scream "PICK ME!" but Hobbs was more of a "Hey, I'm a good guy too."
You see some of those characteristics you'd love in a dog living in your home don't necessarily grab people's attention in the shelter environment. But they certainly grabbed ours. We got Hobbs out of his play pen, and quickly learned that this sweet boy loves kids, is good with other dogs, knows sit and down, and he walks well on leash. He's truly the complete package. He lives with kids, another dog and his foster family reports him to be the perfect house guest...who sleeps quietly through the night in his kennel.
Hobbs' adoption fee is $300 and includes his neuter surgery, microchip, rabies vaccine, annual booster shots, deworming, and pro-heart vaccine (6 month heart worm preventative). Let us know if you would like an adoption application on Hobbs.
