Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Let me introduce you to one of the coolest little dudes ever, Jett! He is a loveable purebred black and tan Miniature Pinscher that is approximately 4 years young with a little piggy curly tail. Jett is a small dog with a larger than life attitude. Sadly, Jett was abandoned along with his friend, Jimmy at the pound and they have been fostered together since. Over the time we have had Jett and Jimmy we have learned a lot about their unique qualities and why these two buddies could be adopted happily together or separately to the right forever homes.
Jett is the outgoing, charming and curious Min Pin boy. He has shown us how smart he is in figuring out ways to climb in, on, under, and through things to get what he wants. He is also very observant and is quick to pick up on his surroundings and the people he cares about emotions. However, Jett’s best trait is his love of being a lap dog to the point we continually have to strip him off our laps or chest to get up from the couch. He is a loves to be comfortable but don’t for a minute think that means he’s lazy because this little dude is always ready to go even if he is at lump under the blanket somewhere!
Little Jett and his bud Jimmy ended up at a rural pound after the individual dropping them off claimed their real owner never came back for them. How someone can drop these two sweet souls is simply upsetting and is definitely to no fault of these two little dudes. Thankfully, we look at this as a blessing in disguise and now both Jett and Jimmy can find their forever families that they so badly deserve.
Miniature Pinscher’s are known as busy, fearless and spirited little dogs. Jett has proven to fit this mold in addition to his intense cuddling qualities. Jett will need to remain kept on leash while outdoors or in a secure fenced in backyard as his curiosity could lead him astray. Jett also has a real elegance about him and he loves to swiftly prance around the house like a high fashion model. Jett is a sharp-eyed and very quick so it is important that training be continuously worked on with this stubborn breed that doesn’t always like to listen. Frequent socialization is also critical so they don’t become sharp to meeting new friends however Jett has proven to be a great little guy on walks and enjoys the company of other animals and humans. In the right hands Jett will be trainable and will make a loyal lovable companion for a long time.
House training has not been a concern with Jett. He quickly learned that outside is where he needs to go, although the cold weather is definitely not Jett’s favourite thing and he will need a coat for any lengthy periods outdoors. Jett is determined and seems to have springs in his legs so we are working on correcting his bounciness and on basic commands like sit, stay and come when you are called. Continual training will need to take place to mold this little charmer into a well-behaved dog. Jett is already such a sweetheart he just needs a little fine-tuning! He will need a family willing to attend obedience school with him so that he can be the best little Min Pin ever and expand on his learning. He is very food motivated so he would like a school that uses food as the initial reward for teaching skills.
Finally, Jett has proven to do really well with other dogs including his buddy, Jimmy and his two foster dog siblings. His foster family has really enjoyed Jett’s attitude and sweet disposition; he is not shy and loves people. Jett shows no signs of trying to be dominate and is okay sharing his toys and food with the rest of the pack although he loves his food and will help himself to his friend’s dishes once he’s done his. Jett is pretty good in the car although he is very curious and has a hard time sitting still. We recommend crating him in the car just so he doesn’t fall all over. We feel Jett would do great in a wide variety of families with a companion or alone and with children over the age of 12 would be a great fit. Any children in the family will need to be calmer, sensitive children who would like a dog to cuddle with them. Jett is not a suitable dog for rough play or handling as he is very fine boned. Jett will not do well in a family with exuberant children or very active households. He would prefer a quieter home. Overall, Jett is a great little dude looking to start the rest of his life with his new forever family. Could it be yours?!
