My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Let me introduce you to one of the coolest little dudes ever, Jimmy! He is a loveable red Miniature Pinscher that is approximately 2 years old. Jimmy is a small dog with a darling personality. Sadly, Jimmy was abandoned along with his friend, Jett at the pound and they have been fostered together since. Over the time we have had Jett and Jimmy we have learned a lot about their unique qualities and why these two buddies could be adopted happily together or separately to the right forever homes. Jett has been adopted so now its Jimmy’s time to find his forever home!

Little Jimmy is outgoing and interested in meeting people outside but becomes shy indoors with strangers and needs a few minutes to warm up to new people in the home. He warms up quickly though and if visitors have treats for him, then he takes bribes and welcomes the visitors even faster!! He is a very loveable and energetic Min Pin boy. He has proven to be very alert and enjoys being busy in the backyard running around. Jimmy is a cuddle bug with his people and really enjoys the companionship of his adult foster family members and prefers not to share them with anyone else if possible. Jimmy will lie on your chest and wrap his arms around you and lay there for as long as you’ll let him. He gets attached to those he loves and is sure to make a great companion for the right family. Jimmy is a good boy, just shy and takes a while to warm up to strangers. Since he is shy, sometimes he is fearful to be approached up to quickly and can get a little barky and jumpy. Don’t let this fool you – Jimmy just needs some time and build a little more trust. We all would be a little fearful after being abandoned by the only people you ever loved. We have been crating little Jimmy at night and he sleeps soundly with no crying or barking at all. Jimmy is a sweet little dude that just needs to find “his person” to make him the best dog he can be!

Little Jimmy and his bud Jett ended up at a rural pound after the individual dropping them off claimed their real owner never came back for them. How someone can drop these two sweet souls off is simply upsetting and is definitely to no fault of these two little dudes. Thankfully, we look at this as a blessing in disguise and now both Jett and Jimmy can find their forever families that they so badly deserve.

Miniature Pinscher’s are known as busy, fearless and spirited little dogs. Jimmy has proven to fit this mold in addition to his sweet cuddling qualities. Jimmy will need to remain kept on leash while outdoors or in a secure fenced in backyard as his curiosity could lead him astray. Jimmy is attentive and quick on his stilts so it is important that training be continuously worked on with this more stubborn breed that doesn’t always like to listen. Frequent socialization is also critical with Jimmy so he can build confidence and become a more social and comfortable dog. Jimmy is a little apprehensive at first so with the right socialization in small doses Jimmy is sure to become a great dog. In the right hands Jimmy will be trainable and will make a loyal lovable companion for a very long time. Jimmy is very food motivated so he does well when people offer him little treats to win his affections. He will need to attend obedience school with his new family to continue working on his socialization and obedience skills. His family should look for one that uses food as an initial motivator as Jimmy responds very well to food rewards.

House training has not been a concern with little Jimmy. He quickly learned that outside is where he needs to go, although the cold weather is definitely not Jimmy’s favorite thing and he will need a sweater for any lengthy periods outdoors. Jimmy is a defiantly stubborn and seems to have springs in his legs so we are working on correcting his bounciness and on basic commands like sit, stay and come when you are called. Continual training will need to take place to mold this min pin into a well-behaved dog. Jimmy is still a very young dog that can we trained all the right habits with a little time and energy!

Finally, Jimmy has proven to do well with his buddy, Jett and his two foster dog siblings most of the time although we feel Jimmy is the more independent one and would do wonders as an only dog. We are looking for a home for Jimmy where he will be the only dog and get all of the attention. Jimmy is pretty good in the car although he is very curious and has a hard time sitting still. We recommend crating him in the car just so he doesn’t fall all over. We feel Jimmy would do great with a mature owner / couple with the time and patience to work with Jimmy on building his confidence and to provide him with the attention he desperately wants. We would recommend Jimmy not be adopted to a home with young children (under 11yrs) or other active dogs as this would cause him unneeded stress and worry. He will be a devoted companion to his new family and you will have to get used to a Min Pin sprawled across your chest when you are relaxing as Jimmy LOVES to cuddle up real close to you! He is such a suck!! Overall, Jimmy is a great little dude looking to start the rest of his life with his new forever family. Could it be yours?!
