My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

KOBE is a 4 year old neutered black male Lab who weighs 129 pounds and needs to lose weight. Kobe is a great dog who loves to be with people and thinks kids are great. He hasn't had the best of care by his well-meaning but flighty owner. He hasn't been getting the exercise he needed as his owner misunderstood the directions his vet gave her, instead of limited exercise she gave him none. This coupled with an undiagnosed Thyroid condition caused him to gain weight. Now that he is on Thyroid meds, getting exercise and on a diet he should lose weight. He is good in the house , does like to take his naps on the couch, he slept on a dog bed in the girls room. He loves to go swimming which should help in his exercise program as it burns calories without putting a strain on his legs. He is also a talker and will tell you what he thinks of his diet. Kids 5 and up lived with 3 girls, good with other dogs lived with 2 Golden Retriever's and a Shih Tzu. Good with cats lived with 2, Knows basic commands. Pulls on lead but good with an Easy Walk Harness. House trained had run of the house. Kobe is approved for kids ages 5+.

Feb 9, 2016: Kobe is doing great! He is super sweet, loves to play, gets along fine with the resident lab and enjoys the resident human kids. He's a very laid back boy, and is house trained, but is working on training his humans to keep their counters clear. Both humans and Kobe are learning and correct well!

Kobe story -. We got Kobe from a local shelter where he was turned in by his owner. She had fostered then adopted him last August. At that time she knew he needed his ACL operated on but did not get it repaired as she couldn't afford the cost. In the time she had him she had not given him any preventatives as she didn't know if she was going to keep him or not. She decided to return him to the shelter who contacted us to see if we could help.
