Here's what the humans have to say about me:
MEET LILY -
Cute little Lily s a 4.5 year old red blond, longhaired dapple Dachshund who is looking for a loving, forever family. She just went to have her summer haircut and get her nails done so she already to meet them. Lily is truly a princess who LOVES to love and snuggle next to you on the couch. She enjoys going for rides in the car and is house trained and leash trained. She has a little toy that she truly loves to chase and play tug of war with. Lily is in excellent health, though she has some dry skin so she needs to be on a fish and potato or duck and potato diet.
Lily is on medication for anxiety, so she will do best as the only fur child (especially no cats) in a doxie savvy family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and perhaps children over the age of 12 who are sensitive to the special needs of Dachshunds.
Like all Dachshunds, Lily is high energy and enjoys playing and warming her little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around her neighborhood, she needs a secure, doxie proof fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
Can you give Lily a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in touch with you within 48 -72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
