Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Approx. birthdate: August 2015. Meet Achilles! Achilles weighs 31 lbs. and will grow a little bit more. He was rescued in Puerto Rico and was flown all the way to Michigan to find his forever home. Here is his very sad story:
Achilles used to live near a restaurant called El Fogon in Salinas. One day, he crossed the road and was hit by a car. The family driving the car didn't care that they hit him and were about to continue on the way, until people in the restaurant told them to take him to the vet or they were going to call the police. Without a way out, they took him to the vet. They decided to euthanize him because they did not want to waste money and time on him. After paying only $25.00 to put him down, they left very angry and went on their way. After watching Achilles still wagging his tail even though he was in serious pain, the vet decided to contact the rescue. Thankfully, now he is well and ready for his new start in life.
He had an open fracture in his back left leg on his knee. No repair could be done, so the leg was amputated. This does not hold him back from being a very normal dog. He is great with other dogs and loves to play, run and jump.
