At this time we do consider Jack a sanctuary dog. Jack does not do well with new people. Jack does not walk well on a lead. He has pulled me down to the ground on a lead. Jack can only be adopted to someone that can meet special conditions. Jack must have a secure fenced yard. He will not climb a fence but if he ever got away, he would not be easy to catch. For travel in a car to the vet, he must be crated. Jack can only have a grain free diet. His skin is still a problem but if he gets any grains, his hair falls out.
Jack will need for his possible adoptive home to be an adult only home. It was recently discovered that he is very nervous around children & will hide and poop when they are present. He will also need a home with a securely fenced yard.
Initial bio when Jack was first brought in: Jack is very low key. He is good with all dogs and good with cats. He is quiet. He lets my kitty knead in his belly all the time and it is not uncommon to see them sleeping together. He is squeezable. He is sweet. He loves to play with me and walk with me and stand on his rock outside. He is great about getting baths. He wipes his feet after he goes potty. He sleeps all night in his crate. Jack loves to collect all of his toys and store them in his dog bed. Too cute! He is housebroken and never marks. He came to us from an abusive/neglectful situation over a year ago, almost completely bald from demodex mange. Most of his hair has grown back in now except for a few spots that are so heavily scarred that it's unlikely the hair will ever regrow there. He seems to have lived a pretty traumatic life before coming to rescue, so he will need a very patient and special adopter. He is still afraid of men. We can only guess at what this sweet dog endured before we got him. He weighs about 55 lb now. His mom was a purebred beagle. Estimated date of birth 4/1/12.
Foster homes needed in the Rowan/Bath County KY areas.
