Here's what the humans have to say about me:
COURTESY POST COURTESY POST COURTESY POST
We are proud to introduce Miss Raven Starfire.
It's quite the fancy name for quite a fancy lady. Raven has come a long way in the short time from where she started to where she is today.
Raven's life started out in a puppy mill. A puppy mill posing as a rescue who has hoards of puppies all longing for the human touch, proper training, and good food but instead getting to sit in cold cages, neglected, ignored and sold before the legal age of 8 weeks.
Unknowingly, Raven's parents got her when she was 7 weeks old. They noticed when they gave her her first meal she seemed ravenous. She would eat so fast she would choke. Raven was unfamiliar with a human touch, so she kept her distance from people. Noises, loud bangs, fast movement scared her.
Soft toys and found socks became items Raven would want to consume instead of play with.
Raven's parents realized slow changes in Raven's life needed to be made.
They began by showing Raven that the human touch and noises were things that didn't need to be feared.
They made available toys like Nyla bones and deer antlers that were safe and what they allowed Raven to play with.
The family constantly worked with Raven and their love for Raven combined with knowing her history gave them patience and tenderness to help her all they could.
In time, Raven began to relax. She enjoyed her walks, she loves to play hide-n-seek, she loves when her nose is rubbed gently, she loves to please and she is great on car rides.
The family saw Raven blossoming and wanted her to do more then they could offer. They called a trainer in and Raven began to evolve into a relaxed young lady.
Still not completely free from her past history, Raven needs basic training and the right family. Small children can't read a dog's body language and they move too fast for Raven. Raven wants to jump and play and little ones don't have the command presence required to settle a puppy down.
Raven would do her best in a home that someone can give her a one-on-one attention without another dog in the house and without small children. Teens who are active with running, jogging, biking would be Heaven to Raven.
Raven is an 11 month old Whippet/Rat Terrier mix, approximately 25 pounds, UTD on vaccinations, spayed, housebroken and will be micro chipped upon adoption.
