My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MARLEY is a 3 year old spayed yellow female Lab that weighs 55 pounds. She is a sweetheart of a dog. She'll sneak into your heart immediately when she says hello by rolling on her back and asking for a belly rub. She walks well on leash and greets other dogs perfectly. She loves to play fetch with her rubber chuck-it ball and loves toys that squeak! She will occasionally play and roughhouse with the youngest pack members and respects the senior in the household. She's high energy, but once she has played and run her legs, she settles easily and nicely. Marley is very agile. She can jump a tall baby gate or a four foot fence if she wants to, but doesn't seek out the opportunity.Marley needs to go to a family that will not leave her for a long workday. She needs a solid fenced-in yard at least 6 feet tall. No apartments/townhouses or busy neighborhoods. She's happy to hang in the yard with her people and canine friends and play. She's used to living with another dog. Marley really wants a family with humans that are home more than not. She will go in the crate for a treat and a frozen kong, but isn't very happy being in there. She is 100% house trained, and sleeps through the night on a dog bed in her foster's room. She doesn't chew on anything she's not supposed to, and knows sit and down. We are completely in love with this girl, and she's going to be the perfect dog for just the right family! Marley is approved for kids ages 8+

Update:: Hey internet people! Are you a stay at home human who has a stay at home playful young dog at home? Do you live in a rural area and have a big fenced yard? Do you love to throw tennis balls forever, and don't mind if a bossy young yellow girl barks at you if you forget to throw them fast enough? Then Marley is your girl! So sweet, full of spunk and love...this girl is ready for her paradise!

Update: Here is Marley's list of *wishes* and *musts* for her new family:
1. Must have: a large fenced yard where she can run and play.
2. Must have: a young, energetic, playful canine companion (or 2) that she can run, tackle, chase and eventually, when the running is done...snuggle.
3. Must have: humans that are home more than not...would prefer if her humans were home with her all day, every day or almost every day (work from home, stay at home, or retired).
4. Must have: an endless supply of tennis balls.
5. Wishes: a comfy couch with blankets to snuggle up in.
6. Wishes: stuffed toys to de-stuff and de-squeak, and antlers to gnaw on.
7. Wishes: ear rubs and belly rubs and noses to kiss.
8. Wishes: swimming pool, beach, pond, lake, puddle to splash in. No baths...ever...please. ;)
If you have her *musts* and think you can cover a few of her *wishes* ask your AC about this beautiful and sweet girl.

Update: Marley is a very sweet, gorgeous and amusing girl. She’s about 3 years old and is a fantastic house guest. Her favorite thing in the world is tennis balls. She will chase them for hours - in the water, snow, grass, house…you name it. She’s looking for a family that can be home with her most, if not all day. She’s energetic and needs to run and chase her tennis ball, or play with her young canine companions, but once she has played for a while, she’ll come in and take a nice nap. When she gets enough exercise, she’s the perfect balance of playful/energetic and an excellent napper. She walks best on an Easy Walk harness, as she pulls a bit when she sees things that might offer a good chase. Marley is excellent at “fetch” and will return the ball to you almost every time. Often, when she has a lot of energy to burn, she won’t even stop and wait – she’ll just toss the ball at your feet in passing and run right back out impatiently barking when you take too long to put the ball in the chuck-it and throw. She’s quite the character, and makes her foster mom laugh every day. Since she is a smart girl who can open doors, kids need to be careful about door control, especially into un-fenced areas.

Update : Marley would be happiest with another young, playful dog in her new home. She loves to run/tackle/wrestle and play with her foster siblings, and having another dog in the home when the humans aren't home helps her feel more secure and less alone. She needs room to run and play. She loves to fetch, and she is definitely high energy. Having a playful companion will
help run her to exhaustion. Marley needs a physical fence and no cats or other small animals. Marley has a prey drive and is very interested in birds, squirrels and bunnies that dare to enter her line of sight. She corrects pretty well with a "leave it" command, but that requires you to have seen the animal before she spots it. She is very agile and can jump over a 4 foot fence should she desire to, but generally only does so if there is something she wants on the other side of it.
Marley is ridiculously smart. She knows sit, down, leave it, drop it, and paw. She picks up on routines very quickly. She sits before each meal and knows which dish is hers. She eats very quickly and therefore uses a slow-feed bowl to prevent gulping. She's beautiful and sweet. She loves to cuddle and loves belly and ear scratches. Chewing on things is her favorite - she loves antlers and squeak toys. If the squeak toy has ears, she'll immediately remove them. She generally doesn't chew on things she shouldn't, but has been known to occasionally pick something up that doesn't belong to her if she's felt neglected that day or hasn't had enough exercise to wear her out (which is a good reminder for her human that exercise is key for this high energy girl). She loves everyone she meets (human and canine) and they always feel the same. Her house manners are impeccable - no accidents, no begging, and no countersurfing (but she will investigate the trash if there is something yummy in it and her human has been silly enough to forget to close the trash drawer). Marley loves water (except baths) and will splash in kiddie pools, the ocean, or ponds left by rainwater. She shares nicely with the other dogs, and sometimes gets a bit toothy when she barks, which is funny to see. She's always smiling. She deserves the very best home, and I know her perfect family is out there somewhere.
