Well hello there, thanks for checking me out… My name is Kujo, and I am an eight-year-old, Pit Bull Terrier male, with a short white and black coat and a handsome face. I am older but still well-proportioned and solid and weigh in at around 60 lbs.

I like people and am a well behaved, active boy, quiet, and getting my belly rubbed is my all-time favourite thing. I was always been kept outside by the owners who abandoned me so I will need to learn more about being a family dog, but I’m smart and a firm, patient, and gentle owner willing to give me the time will make a perfect pet. I am not good around male dogs, or young children, and definitely not a cat. I would be best suited to a family who wants just one great dog.

I really am very sweet and I know that a loving family, whether it’s a single person, a couple, or a family with older children, would make me very happy if they spoil me and make me part of their lives forever. I promise to be loyal and loving and to let you pet me all day long. My adoption fee is $100. Now to the boring stuff, my rescue people want you to read the following so that you know what the rules are if you want to adopt me… and, really, who wouldn’t want to!!

For more information on Spike, please contact Louise Vande Wiele at 615 500 3164, or at LouiseVdeW@gmail.com. We will respond as quickly as possible. Meanwhile, please read the following so that you are aware of, and agree with, our process before asking to adopt one of our rescues.

Anyone wanting to adopt a dog from the RARFS is required to fill out an adoption application, provide references, sign an adoption contract, agree to a home visit, and finally to pay an adoption fee. Once the application is received, references checked, and a home visit completed, and everything is satisfactory, families can take their new family member home. Families who rent must provide a letter from their landlord stating that they are allowed to have a dog, and listing any size or breed restriction.

We are located in Cookeville, Tennessee. We prefer that families come and pick up their new family member, but a licensed pet transport is available. Should we need to transport dogs to their new homes, the adopter will need to arrange and pay $150 per dog directly to the transport company.

Should a dog adopted from RARFS need to be rehomed, we ask that the dog be returned to us, or that we approve the new home. We have a no questions asked return policy, but adoption and transport fees will not be reimbursed.

RARFS rescues dogs, not breeds, and we want you to fall in love with the dog you adopt into your family so, as potential adopters, please be aware that the information we provide is to the best of our knowledge. When it comes to breed or age information on a given dog, we must often guess, rely on our knowledge, or go by what we are told by rescuers, vets, and breed experts. If you are looking for a purebred dog, please visit one of the many breed specific rescue organizations on this website.

As a non-profit organization, RARFS relies on your adoption fees to cover costs. We receive no outside funding. Fees help us care for the animals we shelter, and enable us to offer them to you for adoption in a healthy and happy state. Fees cover the costs for spaying/neutering, intake vaccines, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevention, and any other medical expenses. Without these fees we could not continue to rescue animals from abandonment and/or a life of pain and suffering. We’ve been asked these questions before, so: NO, we will not waive or reduce adoption fees; YES, you can further pay it forward by making a larger donation than the requested fee.

About RARFS - TN

About Our Rescue Group...

At the Rural Animal Rescue & Foster Society our mission is to rescue and protect domestic animals through fostering programs and good adoptions. We are not breed specific, and often take in old and/or sick animals. We ensure that all our animals are spayed/neutered and kept up to date on vaccines. All our animals get monthly flea and heart worm prevention treatments. We're dedicated to preventing animal cruelty and overpopulation, and offer public education about the many ways of reducing animal neglect. Because we often take in abused animals, we work to socialize all animals before adoption. We started rescuing because so many animals are abandoned in Tennessee, and we kept finding abandoned dogs from puppy to elderly ones, and could not, in good conscience, leave them out there to starve or be hurt further. It has since become our life's work and we are up to 40 dogs and while we adopt many out, we take in more every day.

Our Adoption Process...

We charge between $50-$150 per dog depending on what vetting the animal has needed. We also guide adopting families to the pet transport company which charges $150 per pet being transported to their new home. Adopting families are required to fill out an application, provide two references, and sign a contract promising excellent care for their new pet. In some cases, we will make home visits.
