It is absolutely devastating for us to rehome our cats, but unfortunately we had a son born in May who has bad asthma. We have and are currently trying all treatment options available and it's to the point where his doctors think that the cats are affecting his breathing. We are unable to do allergy testing until he is 18 months old, but the doctors think it is in our sons best interest to try and find our precious cats a new loving home. I really want them to stay together as they have been together for several years. They are both very sweet cats but can be timid at first. They are strictly indoor cats. We would love an 'open' adoption where we could check in and keep updated with them and their new family. The last thing we want is for someone to adopt them both and the situation not work out well and for them to get taken to a pound. If that were the case we would prefer to take them back to our home and work on finding them another home. They are part of our family and it breaks my heart to even have to do this, but our sons health is important and we have tried all available medical options to keep our cats in our home.

About Cat's Cradle of the Shenandoah Valley

About Our Rescue Group...

Founded in 1998, Cat’s Cradle seeks to end euthanasia of healthy adoptable cats and dogs in Shenandoah Valley through aggressive spay/neuter of owned animals and TNR (trap/neuter/release) of feral cats.

We also have a network of foster parents and an active adoption program for cats. In 2009 we opened an adoption center in Harrisonburg. We do not euthanize for space.

Please visit our website at: www.catscradleva.org for more information.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We show our cats at PetSmart in Springfield, VA on most 1st and 3rd Saturdays, at the PetSmart in Harrisonburg, VA on some Saturdays and some Sunday afternoons, and at the Petsmart in Waynesboro on Saturdays. We also show cats at our adoption center at 124 S Main St. in Harrisonburg 11-6 M-F, and 11-5 Sat and 11-4 Sunday.

Please visit our website: www.catscradleva.org for other adoption events and hours for showings or call the adoption center at 540-433-1135.

Our Adoption Process...

Please see our website: www.catscradleva.org for a copy of our adoption application and adoption contract. Adoption fees vary, but generally run around $135.

All our cats are spayed or neutered before adoption, and fully vetted. We have an adoption center in Harrisonburg, but we also make extensive use of foster homes until adoption.

We generally prefer indoor only homes, and our contract specifies that the cat(s) will not be de-clawed.

We have some cats that cannot be adopted into an indoor situation. For these, we seek safe barn or out-building locations.
