Oscar is making very nice progress in his riding refresher, and has reached the stage of playing teasing games with his riders to see what he can get away with (ie rubbing against arena rail, backing when asked to stand). He is riding VERY well for two upper intermediate riders; riding nicely for a solid intermediate, and has done leadline and simple walk riding with several others.
He has a strong forward trot when asked, but also knows how to settle into an easier jog while still maintaining balance.
He has nice brakes but does not yet understand halting on weight transfer without rein contact.
As you can see, he walks easily on a long rein; he trots just as nicely and keeps balance nicely without rein contact if asked, but prefers a solid yet fairly light handed contact when trotting.
