My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Buddy's adoption fee is $250.

Hello! My name is Buddy. My foster family tell me I am the cutest dog EVER! Most people think I am a puppy (or a teddy bear, an Ewok or a fox), but I am actually a 9 year old Pomeranian! I have been neutered, up to date on vaccines, micro chipped and have had a dental. I weigh about 4.4kg.

My favourite thing is to go for walks, and I will wiggle and dance when you take my leash out. I love running through the snow and sticking my face in it. My foster mom tried putting a jacket on me for cold days, but I don’t really enjoy wearing clothes. Mind you, on the really, really cold and icy days, I may be willing to try boots as my feet get cold quickly, so walks end quickly. On those days, I play chase inside for exercise. We normally go out at least three times a day, morning, late afternoon and evening, but I am happy to go out many more times and can walk for a long time at a good pace. I walk well on a leash, but my social skills could use some work. My foster family are trying to teach me to be more “approachable” with other dogs, and not bark and lunge at them when they go by. Truth is, sometimes I just don’t like some dogs!

I love my foster family and hang out wherever they are. When I first arrived, I tried to be the pack leader, but quickly learned that mom was. I love sitting beside my family and being petted, but am independent, so don’t crave lots of cuddles. Wherever I go, people want to cuddle me and take my picture. Sometimes it gets a bit much for me (it’s hard being popular!), so when I start to pant and yawn, it may be a good idea to give me a break from the attention.

I am 100% house trained and my foster family is so proud that I haven’t had any accidents! I even let my foster mom sleep in sometimes if she wants.

When someone comes in the house, I bark, but not for very long. If they are a stranger, I may try to hump them, but mom is pretty quick to nip that in the bud! Can’t fault a guy for trying. When I am alone, I just sleep in my crate or on the bed, and wait for my family to come home. I kind of know their schedules, so will sit in the bay window waiting for them then bark to let them know I see them! I enjoy car rides, and spend most of them looking out the window.

I am good at eating my food, but if any human food is at my level, I will eat it. I thought coffee tables were actually for dogs to eat off of, go figure!

I can’t wait to find my forever home...I will entertain you, keep you company and keep you in good shape with all our walks! I would be a good fit for an active family who will include me in their activities, and continue to work on my behavior and socialization with other people and dogs. My family also needs to understand that as cute as I am, that I am an independent little guy and don’t enjoy being fussed over too much. I would also be happiest as an only pet. Although everyone who sees me falls in love with me, I am saving my heart for one special family, will it be yours?
