Cade was brought to ARF because he had growled at the five-year-old daughter in the family. He had never growled at anyone else, and the couple said the child "liked to be affectionate" with the dog. Further discussion and observation led ARF members to believe that the dog was being hurt by the child. While being assessed, Cade seemed very friendly to everyone he met, to every dog he was introduced to, and even to the cats, though he had not been around cats. Cade's not being neutered even though he is five years old and not having any vet records for a five-year period made our members feel very sorry for him. He seems nervous when riding in a car, but he probably never was allowed to go in the car, even to the vet. We are told that he lives inside and is housetrained, but he doesn't seem to have been taught not to jump up or other people manners. Cade came in at an extremely bad weather time, so ARF volunteers were not able to get to the boarding facility to spend time with him as usual. Yet the more time our members spend with him, the more everyone likes him! Cade deserves attention, instruction, respect, and companionship. If he can experience real love in his lifetime, this 71-pound boy will be ever so grateful. He is a smart dog, and he will quickly learn what is expected of him and how good it feels to receive love and care!
