All of our pets start their journey in Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted at which time they travel via transport to their new forever home. We use Alpha Dog Pet Transport for our New England adoptions (https://alphadogtransport.com) and The Road Home Pet Transport for our Midwest adopters.

Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff.

Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Blues City is operated 100% by volunteers. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding. You can find the adoption application at Bluescityanimalrescue.net

Why Adoption is a Great Option

GINGER, a Waterbury Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Waterbury, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Waterbury.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Waterbury already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Waterbury breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Waterbury paves the way for another one to be saved.
