Sunflower's Story...
Precious Sunflower has come such a long way from that mangy pup we pulled from death row at the county shelter. Poor Sunflower was covered in demodex mange and pretty much hairless. She was so painful from the mange she couldn't stand you to even touch her. She was completely terrified of humans from the neglect she had faced before coming to us. She was to the point many didn't even know if she would ever become social. With lots of TLC from her foster mom and great vet care from Parkway Animal Hospital Sunflower has blossomed into a BEAUTIFUL AND SWEET baby girl. She's still a little timid but she comes to you now without even being asked for love. She loves to be held and to be petted. She would be the perfect lap baby for a retired family or someone with a laid back lifestyle. She is doing ok with children now but a home without smaller children would probably be better for her. She knows how to use a doggy door and gets along with dogs of all size. She doesn't seem to mind cats either. Sunflower is a 1 year old Doxie mix who's around 7lbs. She's utd, hw neg (tested below detectable levels) and spayed!

All dogs have a $150 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sunflower, a Grand Bay Chihuahua/Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua/Dachshund for sale in Grand Bay, or seeking a Chihuahua/Dachshund dog from a breeder in Grand Bay.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Grand Bay already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Grand Bay breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua/Dachshund breeders who help with Chihuahua/Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Grand Bay paves the way for another one to be saved.
