Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Riku is a 5 year old black and tan male shiba inu who was surrendered to a shelter in Alabama by owners who no longer wanted to deal with his allergies. He tested heartworm positive at the shelter. Thankfully, the nice people at the shelter posted a video of him, with patchy-fur, shaking and skinny on the internet. DC SIR saw it and jumped at the chance to help him heal.
Despite all Riku has been through, he is a sweet dog and loves to cuddle! He has enjoyed the many adventures his foster family has taken him on, and he loves squeaky toys.
Riku has spent several months of care and extensive rehabilitation with DCSIR before he recently was determined to be available for adoption. He was just neutered. DC Shiba Inu Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit and operates on generous donations from kind-hearted individuals. Please consider donating to Riku’s fund so that he may fully recover and we can continue to rescue dogs like him.
