Meet Nero! Affectionate, affectionate, affectionate! Upon first glance, you will see that sweet Nero has been through a lot. On the outside, he is partially blind, a little unsteady on his feet and he wears many physical scars... each scar is a telling reminder of his triumph and bravery. On the inside, he is the most non-discriminating, loving and "live in the moment" soul you'll ever meet.

The first 6 years of his life are now behind him and he holds no grudges. He greets every man, woman and child with a smile, a lick and a tail wag. If you get down on his level, you might want to brace yourself… he'll take that as his cue to snuggle! He may be a bit wobbly on his feet, but the boy knows how to lean in and make you feel loved! The world would be a better place if everyone were as good at giving love and achieving complete forgiveness as Nero.

His personality is social and happy. His temperament is mellow. Because he sees shadows and movements without fully knowing what he's seeing, he can over stimulate when he's near dogs that he does not know. His ideal home is quiet with a spacious yard and no stairs. Nero is housetrained and very well mannered in the home. He loves other dogs as much as he loves people, however, due to his inability to see and hear clearly, he may not be a good fit for every dog. Dogs that do best with Nero are sturdy, confident, happy and well balanced. Get ready, he'll steal your heart, this one. He's something special. Age 6 years. 63 lbs.

About Canine Rehabilitation Center and Sanctuary

About Our Rescue Group...

Canine Rehabilitation Center and Sanctuary (CRCS) is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to helping dogs of all breeds and ages recover from trauma such as abuse, neglect, long-term confinement, and other special circumstances. Our primary focus is the rescue, recovery and placement of at-risk dogs. We provide refuge and a second chance for dogs needing at new start by offering a recovery program, thorough screening for best home placement for dog and adopter, and behavior help and support for the life of the dog.

Dogs that come into our care are victims of abuse, domestic violence, dog fighting, and laboratory research. We also take in dogs that have suffered from neglect, hoarding and puppy mill cases and dogs that have endured long term confinement or isolation. We are a support for rescues and shelters, taking in dogs that have been waiting for extended periods to find a home, dogs that have been returned multiple times and dogs that are struggling in the shelter environment due to fear and lack of socialization.

CRCS was founded in 2011 and began as a 100% grassroots organization powered by handful of dedicated volunteers. In November of 2013, we moved into our own facility. With 11,200 sq ft of indoor space and over 5 acres of outdoor space, we are currently working on a capitol campaign to purchase the property and transform every inch into a beautiful campus specifically geared towards recovery for our canine friends.
