My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Darcy is my name. I am a spayed female, purebred Husky. I'm probably somewhere around 8 years old. I weigh approximately 50 pounds.

I'm up-to-date on my vaccinations and I have already been micro-chipped.

I'm such a sweet happy girl it's hard to believe that I've had a rough life up until this point. It's obvious that I have been bred many, many times before. My purpose in life was probably just to make cute little puppies to sell. Isn't that sad? I felt so used and unloved! My friends here at CageFree speculate that when I was no longer useful to my previous owners, they released me onto the streets and left me to fend for myself. That's where Animal Control found me. Walking the streets alone - hungry and tired.

When they brought me into the shelter I was filthy, I smelled awful due to a skin infection, I was missing hair on my tail, and I had bilateral ear infections. Upon further inspection, the vet noticed that I had polyps in both ears and one of them was bleeding. I was a total mess!

I spent about 3 weeks at the pound. While I was there, I received treatment for my ears and I was bathed with medicated shampoo. Unfortunately, being that I am a husky and I have lots of fur, the groomer at the shelter had to shave me in order for the shampoo to reach my skin. But my hair is almost all grown back now and I'm looking and feeling much more like my true beautiful self!

One other thing that I should mention is that my friends here think that I may be a bit hard of hearing. Probably a side effect of recurring, untreated ear infections. It doesn't bother me though. I prefer to look on the bright side. I don't get woken up when all my doggy friends start making noise. ;)

Enough about my past. Let me tell you a little about who I am as dog. I'm super sweet, I like to give kisses, and I really enjoy belly rubs. If you give me a chance, I promise I'll be your best friend in no time.

I'm pretty easygoing, I don't require a ton of exercise, and all I need is a warm, safe, cushy bed to call my own. And, in case you're wondering, I get along great with all people and all other dogs! I'd be a great a companion dog for your current dog if you have one.

If you're interested in giving me the loving home that I have always deserved, please don't hesitate to send an email and say you want to meet me. I'm looking forward to a bright future with someone who will care for me for the rest of my life. Are you that person? I sure hope you are!
