My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dougan is a handsome young male who was surrendered by his owners for digging. He is 2 years old and previously lived as an outside dog. He is well mannered in the house and gets along well with other dogs. He seems to enjoy house life very much – as it’s so luxurious compared to being outside all day, and he loves to play and lounge around with his foster brother, Winston. Dougan is an “attention hog” and absolutely loves being talked to and loved on. When talked to, he contorts his body into the shape of a kidney bean and does the famous “boxer wiggle”. Dougan is currently on medical hold due to a heart condition known as aortic stenosis. We looked into treatment options for Dougan and he would have been considered for a pioneer study at the University of Florida that might have very well helped him, but because he is also afflicted with heartworms, he was not a candidate for this program. This is so unfortunate for poor Dougan. See the BARC video below about how preventing heartworms is so easy. Dougan is being fostering by the Veres family in Jacksonville.
