Toby's Story...
Toby is super friendly, sweet, playful, affectionate and a survivor! He was "rounded up" as a stray on the island of St. Martin and taken to a kill pound at only about 2 and a half months old. The wonderful folks at I Love My Island Dog, a rescue group on the island took him from the pound and into their happy shelter. He then went to a foster home for a couple of days before being flown to Island Puppy Rescue International.

While in foster care here in NJ it was noticed that he had an unusual gait and would occasionally fall when running. Xrays showed that at around 4 weeks of age this precious puppy had suffered greatly with a broken hip and fractured femur! Despite these very painful, serious injuries this little guy made it!

Toby is on a supplement for bone strength and the vets have recommended that he remain on it for life. He should have xrays when he reaches his adult size at about a year - year and a half. The added care and expenses to keep Toby strong and active will be repaid 1000 fold in the love and loyalty of this very special puppy. If you are able to provide the special home and TLC that Toby requires, please email us for an application today at islandpups@msn.com.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Toby, a Middlesex Shepherd (Unknown Type) puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shepherd (Unknown Type) for sale in Middlesex, or seeking a Shepherd (Unknown Type) puppy from a breeder in Middlesex.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Middlesex already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Middlesex breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shepherd (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Shepherd (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Middlesex paves the way for another one to be saved.
