Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Ruben is a sweet, well mannered boy who has found his way into rescue from a kill shelter. He is very attached to his human, and will follow you everywhere. He is a large shepherd but still acts puppy-like with new furry friends but also mature enough to settle down after a good playtime.
He went on a field trip to Walgreens and he behaved great and got LOTS of compliments. He stayed right by the fosters side and was fine with all the people he met. He has gotten along with the other dogs in the rescue pack. Only one incident with a squabble over a dropped cracker ; ). Over in a NY minute and no one got hurt ... other than their feelings maybe.
He is a beautiful boy with a reddish brown coat and HUGE paws : ) but he doesn't jump up on people thankfully. He needs to be with his people though and does not like the crate, he will break out. He needs some major crate training if you intend on keeping him in there for a little while on errands or short outings. At the rescue we just don't have time for the one on one he needs on that issue. He also may have some separation anxiety since when his person leaves he tries to go with them. He needs a family or person who stay at home and has time to work with him on his issues.
For him though, none of these may be an issue...he just wants to be near you : ).

He has the typical GSD characteristics, protective of his territory, alert and guarded until he sniffs you and knows you're friendly. When introduced to new people he immediately wags his tail to say hello. He is old enough to be over all the puppy behaviors and an excellent house dog. He LOVES being in the house.
If you would like a beautiful loving companion who will let you know when someone comes he is your boy. Easy to live with and loves to go where ever you go. Rides great in a car.
