Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Timmy is a 2 yr old Labrador Retriever mix who found himself at the county shelter. Scared out of his mind, Timmy just hid in the back of the kennel never coming out to meet anyone. He was sure his family would come for him but they never did.
Timmy almost lost his life at this shelter due to his extreme fear. Evaluators were unable to walk him or get to know him. But we knew in our hearts that Timmy was a happy, good natured boy who just needed a chance. So we busted him out of the prison and took him to a foster home.
Timmy has made a lot of progress since those scary shelter days. He is getting along well with his foster siblings and learning to walk on a leash. He is crate trained and potty trained.
The ideal family for Timmy will be a family that is experienced with the retriever breed or one similar. Since his current foster home has no children, we do not know how Timmy is with children. But we are going to suggest that Timmy be placed with children 8 yrs and older because he does tend to be very exuberant, jumping on people to get attention. They will need to have ample time to spend with Timmy, teaching him good dog manners, playing, running or hiking. Enrolling in a training class is always suggested. Classes are a great bonding experience and teaches BOTH dog and human (the human more than the dog most times!).
Timmy is approx. 30 lbs now but should gain 5-7 more pounds. He is a small Labrador, probably maxing out at a healthy 40 lbs. He is fully vaccinated and neutered.
Timmy is currently being treated for ehrlichiosis, an infection spread by ticks. It is a very treatable condition that has no long term affects once treated. Brittany Rescue AZ will continue to pay for Timmy's treatment until he has been deemed clear of this infection.
If you are interested in meeting Timmy, please contact us at britrescueaz@cox.net. Our adoption process includes an application, interview, home visit and meet and greet with the dog. Timmy's adoption donation is $300. We give all our dogs and potential new families a two week trial to make sure we have made a good match.
Two weeks or two years later, we want all our adopters to feel free to contact us if problems arise,
