Joey's Story...
Joey is a heart melter! A Maltese mix, he's about 6 years old and weighs a skinny 8 pounds. Joey needs to be brushed weekly and will need to be groomed by an experienced groomer every 4-5 weeks. He was found as a stray and brought to a nearby shelter in Kentucky, with severely matted hair so grooming is new to him and that is scary. One of his pictures will show the condition he was in when HART first rescued him. He knows "Come" and "Sit" and is almost house trained. Joey likes to chase plastic golf balls, play with toys, go for short walks, snuggle on the couch and give kisses. He likes other small dogs but has not met any cats.

Joey is neutered, microchipped and up to date on shots.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Joey, a Cincinnati Maltese dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maltese for sale in Cincinnati, or seeking a Maltese dog from a breeder in Cincinnati.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Cincinnati already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Cincinnati breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maltese breeders who help with Maltese rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Cincinnati paves the way for another one to be saved.
