Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Stacey is a beautiful 8 year old female Golden Retriever who's been kept very busy tending puppies in her past life. She is determined to make the most of her chance at happiness and deserves to be loved and spoiled.
Stacey is very calm and friendly, but not clingy; she is an ideal house dog. She is housebroken and hasn't had an accident. She loves exploring the back yard and the house.
Some breeder releases have trouble mastering basics things that most dogs seem to know instinctively. She, however, has not shown those issues. She goes up and down stairs like a trooper and doorways are no problem for her. She will occasionally startle at household sounds, but this is minor and she recovers quickly. New environments are stressful on her and she does some pacing initially when brought into a new environment or home. But she gets over that quickly and finds the most comfortable dog bed or couch, if that is allowed, and settles in for a nap.
Stacey walks fairly well on a leash and with some practice will be a star. She is just experiencing many new things so she wants to sniff a lot. We are working on some basic commands and she is learning to sit quickly.
Stacey should go to a home with another confident dog and she has shown some interest in dog play with her foster sister. She is also showing interest in the stuffed animal dog toys and carries them around the house and to her bed. She sleeps through the night on a dog bed or in a crate, and rides well in the car. She is an easy, calm dog, that is so happy to be in a home.
Stacey has not been spayed yet due to timing with her heat cycle. She will need to be spayed about mid-late April; the cost of that will be covered by GRFR.
