Here's what the humans have to say about me:
MEET MINDY-
Miss MINDY is the most beautiful, rare, brindle tweenie long haired Dachshund. She is just 2 and a half years old and weighs 16.5 lbs. MINDY is just so loving and sweet. She absolutely loves the garden area and loves running the land. She is high energy, but minds very well and wants to learn and please. She loves her extra large wire crate filled with lots of blankets and bully sticks. MINDY also loves to play with the large squeaker toys and plush toys. She also wants to be held and cuddled. This is one very special, beautiful girl.
We believe MINDY will do best as the one and only child (fur or otherwise) in a doxie savvy family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) so she can receive all of your attention and give you all of hers. It is possible that she could be placed with an active, tweenie male Dachshund who loves to play. As we mentioned, MINDY needs a doxie savvy home that understands the special needs of Dachshunds. MINDY does need some socialization as she is still a little timid.
Like all Dachshunds, MINDY is high energy and enjoys playing and warming her little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around her neighborhood, MINDY needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
Can you give MINDY a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in touch with you within 48 -72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
