3/18/16 Initial Bio. Meet adorable Tobi. He is a 6 year old bigger fellow. Tobi is a Yorkie. He is about 14 pounds. Tobi is being foster in Ft. Myers, FL. Tobi's adoption fee is $350 and includes all vetting (neuter, dental cleaning, immunizations, microchip and chip registration). A Vet reference, personal references, and home visit are required for adoption. You may apply to adopt Tobi by going to our website at www.unitedyorkierescue.org and completing the adoption application located on our home page.
Tobi was sadly surrendered by his owners because they were no longer able to care for him. He is a very sweet dog and seems to be well behaved. Tobi was originally rescued from an abusive home. He was cared for in his last home until they were no longer able to provide for his needs. He is neutered, but will need all his vaccinations and most likely a dental. After that Tobi will be ready for his final forever home.
He is mostly house trained, but may have occasional accidents. He needs someone home a lot of the time to take him out often, He is crate trained. He is not totally leash trained. A fenced yard would be ideal for Tobi. He likes to sleep with his people and sit on the couch with them. He gets along with everyone and would be a good dog for a family with children. His former owner said he is a barker so an apartment or condo would not be his best option. However, his foster mom will be working on teaching him not to bark at inappropriate times. Tobi likes to go out and will rush to the door to get out. Therefore a baby gate and/or extra precaution will need to be used when opening any doors to an unsecured place.
