Dixie's Story...

Dixie is an 8 year old female Italian Greyhound.  She is one of the sweetest, most loving dogs that we have had in rescue.  Daisy was turned in to the Nebraska Humane Society in Omaha where we picked her up.  From what we know her previous owner passed away, and the family took her to the humane society.

You won't ever have to worry about getting this a girl having bad breath, getting a dental cleaning or brushing her teeth because she doesn't have any teeth.  This doesn't prevent her from eathing hard food, she has a healthy appetite anyway. She isn't able to keep her tongue in her mouth, but she doesn't mind and it really makes her unique.

Dixie gets along great with the other dogs in her foster home and lays in the middle of the pile.  She is a good lookout dog too.   She loves to play when she is in the backyard with one of the other dogs, chases her and waits to be chased too.   Her house training skills are excellent, and she is fully kennel trained too, although she prefers to sleep in bed.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dixie, a Lincoln Italian Greyhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Italian Greyhound for sale in Lincoln, or seeking a Italian Greyhound dog from a breeder in Lincoln.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Lincoln already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Lincoln breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Italian Greyhound breeders who help with Italian Greyhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Lincoln paves the way for another one to be saved.
