Dewey's Info...

I am already neutered, up to date with shots, and good with dogs.

Dewey's Story...
Dewey is a hound - maybe shepherd mix little dude that is 1-2 years in age (closer to 1 the vet thinks). He is super friendly to all that he meets - that tail gets to going! He is good on leash and definitely likes other dogs. He was found as a stray and looked like he had dodged a car by rolling off the pavement which resulted in a little road rash which is just about cleared up already. Dewey is just at 40 pounds if that, not too big at all - and full grown. We are learning more about him as he is new to us. We hope to have an update to provide on house manners. If you are interested in Dewey - we would love to introduce. He would be an excellent dog for just about any home.

We recommend and encourage you to complete an application at http://henricohumane.org/adopt/application-for-dogs/ before coming to our next adoption event. To find out if I will be attending our next adoption event, please email dogs@henricohumane.org.

Adoption events are every Saturday, excluding holidays, at the Petco located at 11331 W. Broad Street, Glen Allen, VA (next to Trader Joe’s) from 11:00am to 2:00pm.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dewey, a Richmond Hound (Unknown Type)/Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Hound (Unknown Type)/Shepherd (Unknown Type) for sale in Richmond, or seeking a Hound (Unknown Type)/Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Hound (Unknown Type)/Shepherd (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Hound (Unknown Type)/Shepherd (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
