My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dieter is a white German Shepherd male, estimated to be about 4-6 years old.  He's a very special dog with a heart of gold.  His foster family has described him as the most loving foster dog they've had live with them.

We believe that Dieter would be a good "first German Shepherd" for someone new to the breed, looking for an easy, forgiving dog.  He is a happy-go-lucky gentleman who exudes gratitude.  We don't know what his life was like before he came to RSGSR, but we know he is very thankful for all the good things that come his way now.

In addition to being affectionate with people, he gets along great with the other dogs, large and small.   During a recent dog park visit, he was great with all the new dogs he met there.  He was even good with the human children he met.

Dieter is already crate-trained.  In fact, he enjoys his kennel inside, and appreciates having it as a "safe space" during thunder storms (which he finds scary).   Since he doesn't like storms, he needs a home that understands that he cannot be locked outside in the yard during the work day. He needs a patient adopter who will work on helping him to feel secure during storms.

He already has good house manners in his foster home too and is house trained.  He also knows how to use a doggie-door.

Like all German Shepherds, Dieter needs regular exercise to keep him from getting bored and getting into mischief.  He enjoys romping with other dogs, so having another canine friend to play with would help with this.

A completed adoption application, with vet and personal references, and a home check are required to apply to adopt. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application:  http://www.RedStickGermanShepherds.org.  Applications are approved solely in the discretion of the RSGSR board of directors.
