Here's what the humans have to say about me:
"Turbo" is an approx 1-yo neutered male GSD who is very affectionate and full of energy. Turbo generally hangs out close to his person, and loves to be hugged on and petted by anybody willing to offer him attention. Turbo has met some young children (3-5 yrs old) at the dog park, and did very well with them. Turbo shows no discomfort in being handled, even by strangers. Further, Turbo isn’t food aggressive at all; his foster caretaker can reach his hand down around Turbo's head and mouth while he’s eating without a reaction from him.
Turbo is good with other dogs and is a regular visitor at a local dog park. See the short video of Turbo elsewhere on this page meeting some other dogs at the dog park.) Turbo would do well in a home with another active dog like him to play with. He is more comfortable with females than males, but would likely do fine paired w/ the right male dog. We don’t know how Turbo is with cats, so I will only consider a home without cats for him.
Turbo will require an active home. He has a lot of energy and is not the kind of dog that will be content being a couch potato all day long. Turbo’s foster caretaker takes him to the dog park twice/day (before and after work), which helps Turbo relax at home.
Turbo is very well behaved overall, especially for such a young dog. He is housetrained and has only had one accident since he arrived at his foster home. His foster caretaker leaves him in the garage with access to the yard when he’s at work. Though Turbo hasn’t done any damage in the garage, he has gotten hold of some loose objects (such as a roll of duct tape) and chewed on them. Turbo is probably not quite ready to be left inside a house alone for a long period of time, but if he was with another dog he might be fine.
Turbo’s foster caretaker has taught him a few basic commands, which Turbo has picked up on very quickly. Turbo loves to go for walks, but he does pull on the leash out of eagerness. He also barks and strains on the leash (in a non-aggressive manner) when he sees other dogs, even when they are quite some distance away. Turbo’s foster caretaker is working with him to curb this habit. Turbo has good recall off-leash.
GSRSV rescued Turbo from the Stanislaus County Shelter in Modesto on 3-7-16. He was neutered on that day, and went directly to a foster home in Bay Point, between Pittsburgh and Concord.
Turbo’s adoption fee is $275, which includes a microchip.
