My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SURVIVOR is a 5 year old neutered black male Lab who weighs 50 pounds. He is a sweet and quiet boy looking forward to finding a loving family to spoil him. He is friendly with other dogs. We don't have any history of having lived with cats or kids, Survivor was surrendered to the shelter with an injury to his hip. There was no information given as to how he was injured, but X-rays showed it was not recent. This boy came in very painful. He absolutely loves to have his chest and head rubbed. He's craving so much love! Survivor needs to go to a home where someone will continue with his rehab. He can do a few steps at a time. NO INVISIBLE FENCES. Survivor is approved for kids ages 10+.

Update:: We couldn't wish for a better "houseguest" than Survivor. Beyond being such a handsome boy, he is also extremely gentle and loving. Everyone / everything is his friend. He even enjoys snuggling up to a teacup poodle - just one of his many new canine friends. This week has brought a milestone to his time here. He found his courage to climb the entire staircase up to the bedroom level. He found this so enjoyable that he was going up and down just for the fun of it. Now it's just routine - no prompting needing. He continues to enjoy his walks with the resident dog. One of his favorite things is to fall over and roll in fresh cut grass - heaven! He is doing extremely well with his FHO rehabilitation. We continue to do stretching exercises twice a day.

Update:: Survivor is slowly adjusting to his new environment. He is a very docile - a little snuggle bear. He is still learning his new environment and is good both outside and in, but doesn't really like making the transition. Instead, he's enjoying his foster parents giving him a boost and carrying him in the house. He can do a few stairs, but is daunted by the full flight, but enjoys being carried upstairs for bedtime. Once there he settles in on one of the dog beds beautifully for a nice 7-8 hour snooze. The resident lab's presence seems to make Survivor happiest - lots of tail wagging. He has also found a new friend with the resident cat and has let her take up residence occasionally on his head. They seemed to have bonded immediately - so sweet! Overall - he's a joy for us to have.

Update:: Survivor is unbelievable. He went from not being able to flex his leg at all to walking on all four. The rehab has helped him immensely. He's ready for his forever home, someone who will continue with short walks and stretching exercises. He's a sweetheart and melts hearts all over the place. Today he was walking outside doing really well.
