My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

See Daisy at this link: https://youtu.be/2Dr6DCpufXo

Hi! My name is Daisy.

I am a 20 months old female (spayed), Mantle Great Dane.

I was surrendered by a family with young kids who had to move.

I am crate trained, but not entirely housebroken. If I am not put in my crate at night or while you are not home, I will go on the floor; however when someone is home, I do let them know I want to go out by pacing and getting excited at the door. If my new home had someone that would be home with me the majority of the day, that would be the best situation.

I am currently seeing a trainer to curb some of the fear issues I have learned throughout my life so far. I love getting all of the treats and like to behave so that I can gobble them up. My new owner will need to be very patient with me and continue to take me to a trainer or dog-training class.

I can be very shy and cautious around strangers. Public places make me very nervous. Hopefully, with dog-training class, I will learn to enjoy meeting strangers and I will LOVE to play with other dogs (especially big dogs).

When I get to know you and trust you, I am the sweetest girl ever! I love to snuggle with my foster family and enjoy getting my belly rubbed. I am a little infatuated with the couch —- it’s just so darn comfortable!

I am not a big barker. I only bark when someone I don't know walks past my house.

I live with another Great Dane and I love him. I would do best in a home that already has a confident, large dog in it so I can feel safer.

My foster family has something called a cat...I'm not so sure about it. It makes weird noises at me when I get near it so I bark back at her. I'm more scared of her then she is of me. I don't think I like those cats much.

I know how to sit but am still scared to go in a “down". I'm getting better and it won't be much longer till I am awesome at down too.

I do like to pull when I am on a leash and should be kept on a harness or Gentle Leader.

I love children a lot but I don't really like it when they wrestle around because it makes me upset that someone might be get hurt. It would be best if I was in a home without children, but if they come and visit I would love it.

I will need a privacy fenced yard that I can run and play in. Running freely in a yard makes me feel great!

It takes me some time to warm up, but once I do, I like to play ball with my humans. I also like to chase rabbits and squirrels so don’t worry, I will keep your yard safe from those pesky critters.

Daisy is a 21 month old female, Mantle Great Dane who was surrendered by a family with young kids who had to move.

Daisy is crate trained. When her family is not home, she does need to be crated. She gets a bit nervous when her family is not home and will have accidents.

Daisy has worked with a trainer to curb some fear issues learned throughout her life before coming to FFGDR. She loves getting treats and likes to behave so that she can gobble them up! She loves to please and just wants to cuddle and make her owner happy. She has improved greatly with training and thrives with a scheduled routine. If she had job to do to keep her busy, she would thrive even more. Her new owner will need to be very patient with her and continue to take her to a trainer or dog training class.

When Daisy arrived at FFGDR she was very shy and cautious around strangers and public places made her very nervous. Since her training and the implementation of her schedule, she is friendly when meeting people and comfortable in public.

When Daisy gets to know and trust someone, she is the sweetest girl ever! She loves to snuggle with her foster family and enjoys getting her belly rubbed. She is a little infatuated with the couch —- it’s just too darn comfortable!

Daisy is not a big barker and only barks when someone she doesn’t know walks by the house. She is currently living with another Great Dane in her foster family, and she loves him dearly. Daisy would do best in a home that already has a confident, large dog in it to help her feel safer. Her foster family also has a cat…but she’s not so sure about it: Daisy is more scared of the cat than the cat is of her.

Daisy knows how to “sit,” “down,” "look," "shake," and comes when called. She is very smarth so it won’t be too long until she has mastered many more obedience commands. As she likes to pull while on leash, Daisy would do well on a harness or Gentle Leader.

Although not fond of horseplay (especially by children), Daisy does fine with kids but would flourish in a quiet environment without children around 24/7.

Once outside in a fenced yard, Daisy will run and you will see her true personality. She really enjoys running and could make a good running partner for someone. A 6ft. privacy fence is preferred. She also loves chasing rabbits, squirrels, and other wildlife within her yard.

With the right owner to show Daisy patience and love, her beautiful personality will continue to blossom and grow.
