Maggie's Story...
Introducing Maggie.

We first met Maggie at Memphis Animal Services when were there looking for another dog. Maggie, formerly known as "Queen", was surrendered to the shelter with her sister the previous week and was out of time. Sadly owner surrenders can be euthanized upon intake, a fate that many dogs meet. But someone there must have seen something special in this dog.

As we walked by her kennel, we saw a sweet girl, with her head hanging low. She was defeated. We sat by her kennel, and she leaned against the door, closed her eyes and let us pat her head and tell her she was a good girl. This was not the girl we were coming to get, but she turned out to be the girl we couldn't leave.

She is such an affectionate and calm girl. She wants to be with her people, wants to sit by your feet, listen to you tell her about the book you're reading, (wouldn't mind a bite of your sandwich either) she is all love and we are so very pleased to have her in our rescue family.

The vet estimate is that she is approximately 1 year old. Her adoption fee is $500 and will cover the cost of her spay surgery, microchip, up to date vaccinations, including rabies, heart worm prevention, deworming, health certificate and transportation from her foster home in Memphis to your area via Alpha Dog Transport. Let us know if you are interested in learning more about this very sweet, very deserving girl!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Maggie, a Chicago Border Collie/Flat-Coated Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie/Flat-Coated Retriever for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Border Collie/Flat-Coated Retriever dog from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie/Flat-Coated Retriever breeders who help with Border Collie/Flat-Coated Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
