Shorty's Story...
"My name is SHORTY, and I'm sure you can guess why. I may be a tiny guy, but I've got a big heart that's full of love. I love to be held, so I'd be a great friend and companion for people who love to snuggle. When you hold me close, you'll feel nothing but comfort. I'm about seven years old, and I came to the El Cajon Animal Shelter with my friend and kennel-mate when our owner decided he didn't have time to properly care for us. I have hope that somebody out there will see what a wonderful little guy I am, then give me the time and attention that I deserve. I recently had a dental cleaning at the vet. I had a few teeth pulled, so now my tongue tends to stick out. Everybody says it makes me look even cuter, but I'm just happy to have fresh breath and clean teeth. I've already been house trained, I get along great with other dogs, and I like kids. If you're searching for a sweet and small fellow, then I'm your boy! I hope to see you soon so we can visit out in the play yard here at the shelter. Love, Shorty"

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Shorty, a El Cajon Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in El Cajon, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in El Cajon.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in El Cajon already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a El Cajon breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in El Cajon paves the way for another one to be saved.
