Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Call Cynthia at 802-989-1716 for more information on this dog. Please consider Tia. Tia is deaf. . . She is a VERY AFFECTIONATE, 3.5 year old, female, 40 LB, purebred Double Merle Australian Shepherd. Tia has what is known as "white-linked deafness". Double Merle dogs may also have a variety of eye defects and vision loss. Our vet did not find any noticeable vision loss when he examined Tia, but her foster Mom believes that she may have some vision loss in her right eye. This does not effect her ability to enjoy life. Tia is totally house trained and non-destructive.
Unfortunately. . .Tia has spent the last year and ½ tied up, with limited human interaction. We also understand that she had been abused by a man at some point, so can be a bit leery of new men initially. In spite of this, she is affectionate and VERY loving. She attached quickly to her foster mother, who she follows from one end of the house to the other, and adores her foster Dad!
Tia responds to hand signals, and is making great progress with leash training. She learns quickly, and tries her best to understand and obey what is being asked of her. Experience with deaf dogs, or a willingness to learn hand signals is going to be very important, as is a fenced yard. Tia would benefit from a home with children 12 and older, where she can receive the patience, love, and daily interaction she has been missing. A home without other animals is going to be best for Tia, although she is good with other dogs in a social setting. Tia is spayed, heartworm negative, and up to date on shots and worming. $175.00 to the right family. 802-989-1716
