My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Nelly and I am a beautiful 7 year old blue fronted Amazon. Everyone calls me a girl but I won't confirm or deny anything. My previous family could not keep me due to a sudden change in their financial situation so the nice people of Florida Parrot Rescue took me in. I was closely bonded to my previous Mommy so I am more comfortable with women than men. I generally don't mind other birdies, doggies or little people as long as they give me enough space to feel safe. I have a very specific list of foods I like to eat. My daily diet consists of Higgins Safflower Gold, Nutri-berries, lightly steamed sweet potato and raw sugar snap peas with an occasional almond for dessert. I love to spend as much time as possible climbing around the outside of my cage or playstand watching the world go by. When my foster mom comes to put me back inside I make her play chase and scoop me up in a towel. She has been helping me learn to step up on a perch for this but we are still learning to trust one another so this will take some time. I do love to talk to her, mimic her silly fun voice and eat sweet potato from her hand. I say "Hi", "Hello", "Ouch" and love to imitate the birds outside my window. As long as I can see you and you say hi as you pass by I am usually fairly quiet. Won't you please come and meet me and see if my forever home could be with you?
