Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Clyde is a wonderful boy who loves everyone and other animals. He plays well with other dogs. Clyde would like to play with cats, but he is a big boy and his size can be very intimidating to a cat. He will chase cats if they run, but he has not gotten aggressive with the cats he has encountered; he just wants to play.
Clyde loves kids but would we do not recommend that he go to a home with small children, only because of his size and youth. He weighs approximately 70 pounds, and when he plays he will at times jump. He will play ball and loves to play tag too.
Clyde has no idea how big he is! His current foster is working with him on the jumping and feels he is getting better.
He walks very well and calmly on the leash, until you want to end the walk. At times he tends to grab his leash when you head home, and his current foster is also working on this.
Clyde calms very well, he is content to lay at your feet and play when you are ready. He is house trained and crate trained.
Clyde is heartworm positive and is currently being treated. He is taking Doxycycline for two more weeks then will get his injections and will need complete rest for approximately four weeks. Complete rest with potty breaks only - no running or playing. Therefore he needs a calm environment during this period. Clyde is fortunate as he has Stage 1 heartworm, and was showing no symptoms which means it was caught early and is minimal risk.
Clyde is a sweet boy and will make a wonderful addition to an active family with older children.
Additional background on Clyde: he was found as a stray picked up by Detroit Animal Care and Control. He was microchipped but when the family was contacted they said he had been missing for 11 months. The owners had since moved and were not inclined to take him back. We do not know where he was for those 11 months but he was in pretty good condition when he was found with the exception of being a little under weight. So we think he was with someone else who possibly had found him and decided to keep him. And who knows how he ended up as a stray again. This sweet boy is ready for a permanent loving home.
