Windy sat anxiously in her run. It was about time for the volunteers to arrive to the animal control shelter. This was the highlight of every dog’s day because the volunteers would ensure each dog had outside time for a bathroom break and play time. Not every county shelter has the fortune of such a good volunteer base as Cobb County. Finally, it was her turn. Windy walked through the aisles of barking dogs to the door that would lead her outside. She quickly relieved herself and then enjoyed the sunshine and fresh air. She had learned to be grateful for every moment she had outside and with her human friends who cared so much for her. One day she overheard that she had been placed on the Urgent List meaning if someone did not come and get her out, she would be killed. A knot formed in her throat as she thought about her former people and wondered why they had not come for her. Returning to her cell, she curled up on her bed feeling lonely and scared. Would she get out? Could she ever trust a human again? She faded off to sleep, but in her dreams she could still hear the frantic dogs in the shelter who were barking expressing the same anxiety she was holding inside herself. A couple of days later, people approached her cell. “Haven’t seen these people before,” she thought to herself thinking it was a little early for the volunteers to be arriving. The intake team from Our Pal’s Place took Windy outside to spend time with her. “Maybe they will help me,” she thought as she wagged her tail in appreciation. As they put the slip lead around her neck, her heart sank as she expected to be returned to her cell. But wait … she was being led a different way … down the corridor and out the door in which she had come in months prior. She was getting out!! At Our Pal’s Place Pet Adoption Facility, Windy met new people who immediately started caring for her, ensuring she was comfortable and happy. She relishes having a lot of outside time throughout the day and especially enjoys walking the trails with the youth volunteers. Her dream is to have her very own companion with whom she can share leisurely walks, enjoy days together and still be allowed some independence to do her own thing.

About Our Pals Place

About Our Rescue Group...

Our Pal’s Place is an animal advocate organization with a pet adoption facility and education center, located in Marietta, Georgia. Our mission is to provide solutions that improve the future for animals. We also run a summer camp program teaching children the importance of spay & neuter and kindness to animals.

Our purpose is to rescue animals from euthanasia at local animal control shelters. When entering the shelter, we first meet the animals who are on "death row". If we believe we can find the animal a good home, we bring them into our organization. We provide safe housing, food, basic training, necessary rehabilitation and a lot of TLC! The animals receive full veterinarian care and are spay/neutered. Meanwhile, we work to find these homelss animals a "forever home".

Rescue and adoption is an important step to helping homeless animals, but will not resolve the overpopulation problem, eliminate animal cruelty or prevent dog fighting. For this reason, Our Pal's Place is dedicated to providing solutions to current animal welfare issues through our education center and community outreach programs. In a positive, fun environment we teach solutions and provide hands-on learning experiences for youth and adults.
