Peanut came to Donghae City Shelter with his siblings after his owner was reported for negligence. Peanut needs a patient, experienced owner who will show him that he no longer needs to be afraid and that he can trust people. Peanut is social and friendly with other dogs his size, but he is still fearful and timid towards people.
Peanut is currently learning how to walk on a leash and has made improvements. He is still scared of the outside world a bit, and could get skittish around loud noises (e.g. a garbage truck). If you are patient and gentle with him, he will slowly give his love to you.
Prior to rescue, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period as the dog learns about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with children under 8 years old; homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking may often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
*Peanut is currently in Donghae, Korea. If you would like to foster or adopt him, please email email@example.com with a bit of information about yourself (e.g. your experience as a dog owner, your family and/or other pets, etc.) and your phone number. A HDP volunteer will promptly respond to your email. Thank you!
