Here's what the humans have to say about me:
SAM is a 7 year old neutered black male Lab who weighs 51 pounds. He is a sweet, lovable and handsome guy looking for a family to love! He was a favorite at the shelter because of his outgoing and friendly disposition. He has a short smooth coat, small patch of white on chest, with a darling face with expressive brown eyes and short floppy ears. He loves to go on walks and is a total pushover for belly rubs! He has the cutest habit of ‘leaning’ up against whomever he is with as though he just can’t get close enough to them. No kid history. Good with other dogs (surrendered with another dog). Unknown with cats. Sam is a very loving dog and he thoroughly enjoys letting your pet him. In fact he enjoyed it so much that if you stop he will remind you that he is still ready to be petted. He also has a wonderful Lab lean. I think he would do best in a home where there is another well behaved and well adjusted dog that is not dominant whose behavior he can model. From being around all of our dogs he is beginning to pick up some good habits. Sam does not like loud noises or yelling or too much unexpected movement near him. He will cower, and skulks away. He is crate trained and is working on his house training. He goes into his crate quite willingly most of the time and he is also fed in there. Sam walks quite well on a leash but is still learning some manners. He does have a prey drive although I believe that he could overcome this for an indoor cat if properly introduced and trained. Sam is quite food motivated and we are working on training him so he understands the basic commands. Day by day since we have gotten him Sam is getting braver and more of his true personality is coming out. Sam is approved for kids ages 10+.
Update:: Are you and your dog looking for a buddy? If so, look no further - Sam #4 is your guy! This sweet boy loves to pal around with the resident labs, chasing squirrels, sunning on the deck, tugging on toys and snuggling for a nap. He loves to be by his foster mom & dad's side as well and is affectionate and easy. Sam is a happy, playful boy that has so much love to give! He is looking for a home with another dog and someone who's home more often than not. He continues to be a perfect house guest that enjoys the company of his foster mom and resident labs. Sam can amuse himself well with toys and loves going on walks and socializing with the neighbors. Watch this adorable boy here: https://youtu.be/q6Rcz-S7SD0 and here: https://youtu.be/UW1iihxl7Go
Update: Sam is a well-mannered 7 year old with a cute, playful nature. He is really enjoying squeaky toys and likes to toss the tennis ball himself and then pounce on it. But Sam's favorite thing of all is just being by your side and cuddling with his humans. This sweet boy gets along beautifully with all dogs and people he meets. He does a good job of alerting us when people approach the house and then once they're inside, welcomes them nicely with wags and kisses. Sam walks (prances is a better description!) on leash, is fully house trained and doesn't need to be crated.
Update: Sam is happily soaking up the sun lately! He loves to be outdoors whether it's on a walk or exploring the backyard. Sam is learning how much fun it is to chase a ball and does a pretty good job of returning it...unless a bird or a squirrel happens to catch his eye! He gets along great with all dogs and entices the resident labs to play who have perked up since his arrival! Sam is a sweetheart who will brighten your days!
Update: FOSTER FRIDAY! Gloomy weather doesn't get this happy-go-lucky boy down! Sam is 7 years young and perfectly content just hanging with his foster mom and canine buddies no matter what the day brings. Sam has great house manners and wonderful temperament. He's friendly and loving with just the right amount of playfulness and the ability to settle himself easily. He loves to check out the plants in the yard and on the deck without disturbing them and is an awesome bug catcher!
Update:: Sam's playful personality is emerging! This adorable boy has so much love to give. He is a joy to foster and has quickly learned the routine in his foster home. He does beautifully on walks and enjoys meeting new people and dogs alike.
Update:: Sam has settled easily into his new foster home and is a perfect gentleman. Sam gets along well with the resident labs, has great house manners, is loving and gentle with a great lab lean. After a good night's sleep in his crate with not so much a peep, he enjoyed exploring the yard with his new buddies and now has settled down with a full tummy for a rainy morning snooze. This boy is going to make a great addition to some lucky family.
Update:: Sam is doing great. He is turning out to be a very loveable little guy. He gets along with all the dogs in the house, especially my little Jack Russell. He is still very attached to humans and would do best with someone who won't leave him for long periods. Sam goes in his crate, he settles down and goes to sleep. We also feed him in the crate. Sam loooooooooves food. He gets so excited when it is dinner time, he dances and hops and spins, which is just adorable to watch. Sam is a talker, so he would not make a good apartment dog. Other than that he just wants to be around you, also fancies himself a lap dog. He is not very active, lays around most of the time and relaxes. Sam is very loving and enjoys both giving and receiving love. If you have hands, you better use them to pet Sam, or else he will nudge your hands to make him pet you. And of course he has a fabulous lab-lean. Super cute little, compact guy
