My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

HOPE is a 4 year old spayed Chocolate female Lab who weighs 65 pounds. She came to us from an "owner" in a rural area who kept her in a 10x10 pen 24/7 and fed her from a pig trough. She is so happy to be with LR and warm, safe and loved! She is a bit timid but is a sweet, sweet girl. She is keeping her kennel clean at the vet. She is very kissy and lovey and would love to be a lap dog. She is a good rider. She is good with other dogs Hope is approved for kids 10+.

Update:: Hope continues to be her sweet, happy self! She loves her people and gives lots of love and kisses. She still has her yard time with the older, calm dogs but really enjoys just hanging out by herself or with her people. She is great in her crate and easy on leash. She is a little hesitant to get in the car but once she is in, rides like a dream. Hope is dreaming of her perfect furever home where she can be the apple of her parents' eye. She could cohabitate with a calm, older dog that did not want to try to engage her in play - she really does not understand that and with her background who can blame her - but would really love to be the only dog in her home if possible. She is good in the crate but would enjoy someone home with her the most as she just adores people now that she has learned that they are nice and loving!

Update: She is loving being a real dog and has learned that the comforts of dog beds and couches are great! She is friendly and outgoing and just LOVES people!! She is a little nervous with other dogs and can be with a calm one that will just give her her space and time but would really love to be the center of her people's world. She has nice house manners and is quiet in her crate. She can be a little bit of a counter surfer if there is yummy human food to be had LOL. Hope is good on leash and though leery of getting in the car, once she is in rides like a dream. We know the perfect, quiet home is out there for Hope, but until we find it she will hang out at her foster's home - come meet her!

Update : Hope continues to grow and progress and learn how to be a real dog! Her previous life is slowly becoming a thing of the past and she is learning to relax. People are Hope's very favorite thing in the world. She is learning what bedding and toys are. She is enjoying just hanging out with a few of the calm, relaxed dogs at her foster. She does not yet understand play and can get a little too amped up so a calm companion or her humans all to herself are her most desired things right now.

Update: Hope is a wonderfully sweet girl who just loves human attention. house living and normal human interaction has been a learning experience ,but one that she seems to really enjoy. She is great in her crate and has had no accidents. She will chew blankets and toys so needs to be monitored. We are working on not jumping up, taking treats more gently and leash walking. She can be a bit of a puller and will benefit from an EZ walk harness. She enjoys the company of calm, older dogs. She is not crazy about hyper dogs or dogs that are very in her face so a calm, older companion would be best or her. Hope is very friendly and affectionate and a great rider. She has a wonderful smile!
