My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Esperanza means "Hope" in Spanish and we are keeping her hope alive in her journey to a better future! This drop dead gorgeous, sweet, loving girl is approximately one year old and weights 56 lbs.

Her story up until now was not a happy one. She was found as a stray, emaciated, with deep flesh wounds from an imbedded harness that must have been put on her when she was much smaller and never removed. As she grew, the harness tightened and cut through her skin, becoming deeply imbedded causing severe wounds and infection. It's hard to imagine how much pain she must have endured! She required 2 surgeries and hundreds of stitches to repair her wounds. She has been so loving and sweet through it all. She wanted nothing more than to be loved and had plenty of love to give!

But that is the "former" Esperanza. This happy, active, playful girl has come so far and she wants nothing more than to find a family to love! She has just one requirement of her own, and that is to be allowed to sleep with her human(s). She has made it clear to her foster mom she does not like to be physically separated at night. Once she hits the bed she sleeps like a log!

Esperanza gets along great with other dogs of all sizes. She has been cat tested and showed interest but did not chase. She has been around a few children at an adoption event and was great with them but we are recommending that she only go to a home with children age 10 and over. She is young and active and might accidentally bump into small children causing injury. She needs a home where she will be monitored closely because she still has some puppy behaviors like chewing and "destuffing" toys and sometimes will swallow pieces of her toys.

Esperanza is mostly house trained with an occasional accident if you miss a signal from her. She is crate trained and for now we recommend crating or confining her when you're away. She knows sit, stay, leave it, and off (most of the time!).

We are requiring a home with another playful, well-mannered dog and a fenced yard (no invisible fencing) so she has plenty of opportunity to run and play. After all she's been through in her short life she deserves only the best in her future life!

If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application located at
https://dogsunlimited.wufoo.com/forms/adoption-application-for-dogs-unlimited-rescue/

All Dogs Unlimited Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on all shots, and are given a monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Upon adoption, all vet records and any current medications are provided to the adopter.

THE SUBMISSION OF YOUR APPLICATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE AN ADOPTION NOR DOES IT OBLIGATE YOU TO ADOPT. Multiple applications are accepted for any available pet and a home is chosen that is the best match between the available pet and the potential furever family. Your application will be processed as quickly as possible and if approved, a home visit would be scheduled. No adoption is final until an Adoption Agreement is presented and agreed to by both parties.

Our goal is to find the right match of our dogs to their new family so all involved are furever happy! Questions: email adopt@dogsunlimitedrescue.org

And THANK YOU for considering a rescue dog for your family!
