My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE STATEMENT BELOW AS IT DESCRIBES OUR ADOPTION PROCESS, ADOPTION FEE, AND SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR ADOPTION BEFORE COMPLETING AN ONLINE APPLICATION. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!

Hello there! Thank-you for clicking on my profile, I’d love to meet you. Let me tell you a little bit about adopting me so that we can get to know each other better.

My name is Duchess and I am an 8 month old female Yorkie who came to NBS Animal Rescue from our good friends at 4 Paws 1 Heart when my owner was unable to care for my medical needs. I was sad about it for a bit - but - I found a really great foster home and I'm looking forward to finding my fur-ever family!!

I am a super super super sweet little lady my Foster Momma says - she thinks I'm beautiful, and smart, and sweet, and pretty, and loving, and did I mention she thinks I'm cute too??? :-) I am a very playful little lady who enjoys chasing after toys, playing fetch, romping with other friendly small dogs who also like to play, and snuggling on my people's laps. I haven't met a cat before, but I'm a pretty curious little girl so I probably would want to sniff and check a new kitty cat out in my new home, but I listen pretty well when someone tells me no so I think I might be OK with having a kitty brother or sister - but we'll have to meet first of course to make sure it's a good fit.

I am still healing from my previous medical ouchy on my bum and am taking a doggy medication to help it heal quickly twice a day. Once it heals all the way my bum should be just has happy as the rest of me is! :-) I'm trying to learn this whole potty outside business - my previous family taught me to potty on pee pads, which I'm quite good at - but my foster mommy says that big girls do their business outside - so I'm learning. I would like family who will continue to help me learn to potty outside by being patient and consistent in showing me where to go.

My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements, so if I’m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too! For me?

These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Family who is gone no longer than 4-5 hour periods.
-Children must be 10yrs or older
- 100% fenced in yard or family who is home often and walks frequently each day

If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:

1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….

2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.

3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.

My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!

Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
