My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If there were a "Hard Knocks" award, Sammi Sue would win, hands down. She was dumped at a shelter because "… she escapes and she is blind in one eye. Afraid she is going to get hit by a car." Mmmmm, in her foster home she has never escaped because she is an inside dog. She loves going outside and is always the last to come in because there is so much to explore. Indeed she is blind in one eye. Our ophthalmologist theorized her left eye had been injured a while back that was not treated. She has a cataract in the other eye which is dissolving. She has light perception in that eye which makes her very adept at avoiding furniture, walls and other large objects. Her foster mom is not sure Sammi Sue knows she is vision impaired because she tears around the house and yard. On intake, Sammi was also underweight, her coat was dry indicating she had poor nutrition and she was heavy heartworm positive. Sammi Sue has a darling personality, loves attention, is housebroken and crate trained. She is around four years old and is a black and tan cockapoo. If you are looking for a devoted companion, Sammi Sue is the dog for you.
