Madden and Raider 10-year-old male yellow Lab (66 lbs) and 12-yr-old male chocolate Lab (73 lbs)
Time for the Silver-and-Black to step up for two of their own. Madden and Raider came to Lab Rescue after spending six months alone in a vacant house after their owner died unexpectedly. A related of the deceased visited the dogs every other day to feed and water them, but they’ve been without walks, dog socialization, or other human contact for a very long time. Finally the relative called us to re-home the dogs. Given these conditions, we found both dogs to be absolutely charming – and starved for attention. We do consider them bonded (understandably given all they have been through) and we want to adopt them out together.
What Madden’s and Raider’s Foster says: Raider and Madden are adorable, sweet “siblings”. The two have been together at least for 4 years when they were adopted from a shelter. They will do everything together. Sleep, eat, drink, play and follow us around the house! When separated they very much miss each other and it’s a big party when they come back together! Raider shows signs of an 12-year-old dog. His movements are slower. Madden is more active. Both walk well on leash, with Madden occasionally pulling. We have given them some toys but they have not taken to playing with them. They both respond quite well when called and take orders very easily (“no”, “go lie down”, “come here”) —they were clearly well trained dogs. There has been no barking, except when someone rings the doorbell. They used to go onto furniture in their old home, however on the first night we told them “no” and they have not tried to go onto furniture again. They sleep together in the living room. They should go to a home with minimum/no stairs as Raider has a torn ACL and struggles with stairs
What Madden’s and Raider’s Rescue Rep says: Both dogs are on pain-killer/anti-inflammatory medication for arthritis and other issues. They are up-to-speed on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Madden and Raider get along great with all people and dogs; not sure about cats. They are currently in Burlingame.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
