This little guy and his sister (Juliet) were found abandoned inside of a trailer where they had lived with their previous owner before the family was evicted. For two weeks these siblings were left with no power, water or food alone inside of the empty trailer left to fend for themselves where they had eaten anything they could find including gum which was all over them when they were found. Neighbors had heard the pair barking inside of the vacant trailer and with landlord approval entered the premises where they spotted the emaciated and almost lifeless duo. Immediately calling the landlord to see what they should do about the pups the landlord stated to let them run free around the neighborhood because someone would surely take them in. However their founders did not do this knowing they live on a dangerous and high speed road and instead called the shelters. Having no luck with shelters local to the area since it was the Friday before Easter and all of them were closed they instead contacted our rescue since they are friends of ours and know that we will help all animals in need. Upon intake these two were emaciated and could see every vertebrae in their tiny bodies. Dehydrated, scared, starving and heartbroken the pair was unsure of coming with us until they met a fellow rescued chihuahua in our care at which point the two followed him to eat and drink which calmed them both immediately. Estimated to be only only 8 months old upon intake the two have been with us for one month and are now 1 year old. We have been getting them both up to date with vaccinations, de-worming, house training, crate training, and more.
Given the name Romeo after his lovable personality and because he is bonded to his sister whom we named Juliet. These two will be adopted together since they are dependent on one another for almost everything. Unfortunately being abandoned by their previous owners inside their vacant trailer left to fend for themselves for weeks we do not know much about their history. However since being with us at the rescue we have seen that Romeo is very affectionate, loving, loyal and craves attention from his human companion. He is the dominant sibling who protects his sister Juliet. Currently this pair of siblings are still puppies and upon intake were only 8 months old. Since being with us for a month they are now 1 years old and weigh approximately 6lbs. We have been getting them both up to date on vet care including vaccinations, de-wormings, crate training, house breaking and more. Romeo is great with cats and smaller dogs but takes some time warming up to bigger breed animals. Initially Romeo will growl and snarl at bigger animals when they initiate play or attempt to sniff either he or his sister until he feels comfortable with them. Once comfortable with the bigger animals he will play and greet them as if they have been together forever. He is affectionate, loving, loyal and craves attention from his human companion. We are working on getting him temperament tested and socialized fully before he is adopted. Romeo and sister Juliet are awaiting their altering procedures which include both receiving their annual Rabies vaccination. Full grown already at his young age this handsome chihuahua remains playful and energetic which requires his adopter to keep a routine schedule and continue with obedience, guidance and training for his future success after adoption.
