Here's what the humans have to say about me:
QUICK UPDATE - 17 JUNE 2017: Diago was sad that today's adoption event was cancelled. We went for a hike to cheer him up (see pictures!).
11 JUNE 2017: Diago is a cute little love bug. He wags his tail when he is happy, and it is almost always going. Diago is house trained, walks fairly well on a leash (he doesn't pull, but gets distracted with sniffing), is very quiet, and loves all people and dogs. He gets most excited around young children and small dogs. He loves going for walks and is always ready to go out the door on an adventure. Walks give him a chance to interact with more people and dogs. He would do best in a home where he will get a lot of exercise, attention, and stimulation. As others have said, when he is inside, he can be a bit of a couch potato. He doesn't have much interest in toys, and leaves most of his running around for outdoors. He doesn't like being alone, but has been trustworthy when left alone with free rein. He is super sweet, funny, and a favorite around the neighborhood. He will make an awesome family member.
14 MAY 2017: Don’t let Diago’s age fool you. This little boy is the energizer bunny in a beagle body! He has his nose to the ground whenever we are outside, although inside he prefers to lounge in his crate or on the cushy sofa (if foster mom isn’t looking). He goes to daycare where he is quite the favorite. He loves all dogs and people. He isn’t aggressive toward cats but is expressing a bit too much interest which is really annoying the resident cat. He just played ambassador at a pet-friendly apartment open house and was a big hit.
16 OCTOBER 2016: Diago has been in a foster home for a couple of weeks. He is essentially housebroken and gets along just fine with my two other dogs. He also loves to cuddle on the couch. I'd say he's got medium energy. He wasn't great with the one cat he was around for a few days (he kept chasing her around).
Diago is a 6-year-old male beagle that is short and stocky. He is friendly and good with other dogs but was a stray at the Culpeper, Virginia animal shelter, so his history is unknown. He still needs vetting and will be available soon.
