My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there all you wonderful people! My name is Chimi and I am a cinnamon colored Green Cheek Conure. The nice birdie doctor said she thought I was between 2 and 5 years old. I got a perfect report on my intake checkup, except that I'm a little underweight. That suits me just fine, cause I love to eat! My former parronts took very good care of me and loved me very much but due to changing life circumstances, felt I'd be happier in a new home, where I could receive the love and attention that I deserve.

Speaking of eating, I am on a very healthy diet of Harrison's Lifetime Maintenance Pellets Fine, chop (check out the FPR website for some great chop recipes), fresh fruits, healthy nuts...yep, you guessed it, I love to eat and I'm not picky. Some of my favorite fruits are apples and grapes. My foster mommy uses almond slivers as my special training treat that she feeds me from her fingers. When she walks into the room I RUN out of my cage and onto my playstand, hoping she is going to let me step up onto her hand and get a treat.

I love people! It takes a few days (maybe less if you feed me almonds) for me to warm up to you, then I will step up onto your hand readily. I like to be in your company and will call out to you if you leave me alone. My calls are not loud, though, and I would do fine in an apartment or condo. I also like to hang from the top of my cage by one foot, just to get your attention and make you laugh! If you'd allow it, I'd hang out on your shoulder and ride around with you all day long.

I'm so proud of myself, too. I am learning to talk! I say a lot of things that my foster mommy can't really understand yet, but can pick out bits and pieces of. Last night, my foster mom and my foster dad heard me say "What are you doing?" and they both recognized it at the same time. I've also been heard to say "Love you" with little kissy noises at the end, "Hi Chimi", "Good night" and a bunch of other phrases that I still need to work on a bit.

I would do really well in a home where there was a lot of activity, and I was in the middle of it. (I would need a quiet area to sleep at night). If you have older children that are responsible enough to help with my care and treat me with respect, even better! Please come meet me and let's see if we can fall in love! In the meantime, would you consider sending me a gift from my Amazon Wish List? Here is the link:

Hope to see you soon!
Kissy noises,
Chimi
