If you are interested in adopting, please email for an application. Once your application is processed, a home visit is required. There is an adoption fee of $300 for each puppy 6 months and under.

Unfortunately rescues don't have the ability to hold dogs for adopters. Dogs are adopted to approved adopters on a first come, first serve basis. Our goal is to get a dog adopted to a forever home so that we can then help another one. If you are interested in one of our dogs, the first step is to request an application, which is typically sent to you the same day you have emailed your request. We process your application the day it is received. The next step is a home visit, and then you will be invited to meet the dogs. While we represent the State of Delaware, the majority of AMROD’s dogs are fostered in west-central Virginia. Contact preference is by email,, rather than by phone. We appreciate you considering an AMROD dog!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Puppy Jellybean, a Augusta County Alaskan Malamute/Jindo puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Alaskan Malamute/Jindo for sale in Augusta County, or seeking a Alaskan Malamute/Jindo puppy from a breeder in Augusta County.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Augusta County already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Augusta County breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Alaskan Malamute/Jindo breeders who help with Alaskan Malamute/Jindo rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Augusta County paves the way for another one to be saved.
